The scope of Engineering study in India

Here are few facts about studying engineering in India which should be taken into account by those who takes an interest in the above-mentioned topic. First of all, let’s have a view of the whole idea of engineering in the mentioned country. The first engineering college in India was established in Chennai in 1847; it was the Civil Engineering College which later became IIT Roorkee.
History of engineering in India
In 1856 three other engineering collages ware established, Calcutta College of Civil Engineering which later became Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (Shibpur), The Overseer’s School it later became College of Engineering (Pune) and Industrial School which became the College of Engineering (Guindy).
At recent times India is considered as a major producer of engineers amongst all the countries in the world. A huge number of colleges are there providing eligible students with graduate and undergraduate courses in applied engineering, engineering, and sciences for sessions of 2 to 3 years.
Scope of engineering in India
are few of the excellent engineering institutions/colleges available in India. In the last few years, the numbers of engineering colleges have grown hugely. The number of engineering colleges has grown from a modest number of 1511 in 2006-2007 to a staggering number of 3500 in 2014-2015, producing a whopping number of 1.5 million engineers every year. Also, students should beware of the fact that the enrolling number of students in all available streams of engineering in India is 2.9 million. So everyone needs to be extra careful when choosing their streams as well as the institutions which are providing them if they want to work on their preferred field.
In recent times a huge number of engineers have to take jobs in other fields than engineering or remain unemployed, there are numerous reasons behind this but the major reason that caused this situation is IT sector companies reducing their recruitments. Now let’s have a look into India’s structure and its offerings in the above-mentioned study field. The controlling body of engineering associations and engineering professions provided in the country is named Engineering Council of India (ECI). The main goal of the council is the development of engineering jobs in various aspects and improvement of the image of engineers in the eyes of the whole world. At this time there are 32 Indian professional institutions or association and 8 government departments under its control.
Here are few of the excellent engineering institutions/colleges available in India.
